Adhesive
How long does the adhesive need to dry?
Allow the adhesive to dry at least two minutes. The adhesive remains white while wet and turns clear when dry. The dry time will vary depending upon humidity.
How do I know if I'm using too much or too little adhesive?
If there is too much adhesive applied or if the paper is placed on the mat before the adhesive is dry, the paper will stick to the mat and will be difficult to remove. If there is not enough adhesive on the mat, the paper will crumple while cutting. More adhesive can be applied on top of the old layer, but cleaning the mat and starting over may be the best idea.
Basic Use
Do you hold the Start button while cutting?
No. Press the Start button only once to begin cutting.
Do you hold the SLICE™ unit in place during the entire cutting process?
Yes. Hold it lightly with both hands as described in “Basic Operations.”
This prevents the unit from moving during the cutting process.
How do I stop the SLICE™ in the middle of a cut?
Cancel it by pressing the MENU button on the keypad.
Can I leave the glue on my glass mat or do I need to wash it off after each use?
Instead of washing the glue off the glass cutting mat after each use, leave a piece of scrap paper over the mat and store. Peel the paper off the glass cutting mat when you are ready to use the SLICE™ Cordless Design Cutter again.
I lost my SLICE™ user manual. How can I get another one?
You can download the SLICE™ manual here.
Where can I find an overview of the basic operations for the SLICE™?
Please refer to the Basic Operations manual.
Battery
How long does it take to charge the battery?
Approximately 1 hour.
How long does the battery charge last?
Approximately 45 minutes of cutting, though this may vary.
Can the SLICE™ be used while plugged in?
Yes.
Can I leave the unit plugged in while not in use?
Yes, this will charge the battery.
Blade
How long will the cutting blades last?
A single blade cuts approximately 50 cuts. The life of the blade may vary depending on the design size, pattern and type of paper selected.
When do I need to adjust the blade pressure?
The blade needs to be adjusted if the blade is not cutting completely through the paper. Adjust 1/4 turn to the left. If the blade is too low, the blade will not cut at all. There is a sensor on the blade that will not allow it to cut when there is too much pressure on the blade. Adjust to the right to lessen the blade pressure. See how-to video or downloadable PDF for more information about adjusting the blade pressure.
Cutting
What type of materials can the SLICE™ cut?
Paper, cardstock, vellum, thin vinyl, thin acetate and photos up to .5mm thick.
Why do some designs not cut in all sizes?
Most designs cut from 1” to 4” in ½” increments. Designs with small details will not cut in the 1” size.
Why is the blade only scoring my paper?
Change your blade or adjust the blade pressure.
How do I remove my paper after making a die-cut with the SLICE™?
Use the SLICE™ spatula to remove the paper from the glass-cutting mat. The SLICE™ spatula is an accessory sold separately.
What do I do if the paper crumbles while cutting?
Clean off the glass-cutting mat, re-apply the adhesive and wait to dry. Also check the blade to ensure that it is not dull.
Why are my SLICE™ cuts not sharp at the smaller settings?
If your SLICE™ cuts are not sharp, you need to calibrate your SLICE™ Cordless Design Cutter. You can view the SLICE™ Calibration manual or view the Calibration video to learn how.
